Evelyn Groome, M.S., M.S.Ed.
Lyn Groome’s background in partner mediation emerged from her extensive thirty years plus experience as
a practicing couple and family therapist.
For eleven years, she was a Senior Staff Clinician and Supervisor in a Couple and Family Therapy clinic within the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. She also taught, supervised and practiced systems based therapy in London, England as a Senior Staff member of the London Guidance Council for four years in the 1990’s. Presently, she has an on-going, active practice in Villanova, Pennsylvania and works in conjunction with the multidisciplinary practice group, Centra,p.c., of Marlton, New Jersey.
Lyn has also lead numerous workshops pertaining to couple and family relationships both in the U.S. as well as the U.K. Many of these workshops were co-lead by Dr. Edward Monte.
As a partner mediator, Lyn specializes in the emotional underpinnings in business, law and medical practice partnerships which impact the functionality of those dyads and groups.
Family Business Consultation:
Lyn has been working as a partner and, now, an associate with Family Solutions Group for the last 15 years. As a family business consultant, Lyn has three areas of focus. First, she has particular interest in gender and women’s issues within the family and its impact on family business leadership. Secondly, she has great interest in the meaning of money and wealth specifically as it pertains to raising children of privilege. And, thirdly, she focuses on the role and influence of the spouse in relation to the Founder and/or CEO in a family business.
Leadership and Non-profit Involvements:
With great interest and professional degrees in education, Lyn presently chairs the board of Mighty Writers, a non-profit organization in Philadelphia, that provides writing, reading and critical thinking skills for inner-city children from the ages of 7 to 18 years old. She has been involved in this organization since the start-up stage, as well as in on-going development. Her past non-profit experience covers board membership on an advisory board at the University of Pennsylvania, dealing with university students working in community organizations for college credit. She also served on the board of the American University of Paris and has served as an adjunct board member for a school in the Adirondacks in upper state NY.
Personal Family Business background:
Lyn comes from a three generation family business in Philadelphia. Through this experience, she believes in the importance and vibrancy of healthy and thriving family businesses and has a particular sensitivity to the unique issues involved in family enterprises.
